OUR PRIMARY GOAL

Protection of the primary forest in Paraguay

Primeval forests are the green lungs of our planet – working to protect them today therefore means caring for the existence of future generations. This protection also includes offering the wood processing industry alternatives to woods from intact virgin forests. We are doing just that by reforesting fallow land with a specially cultivated, fast-growing eucalyptus. At the same time, we are protecting the remaining virgin forests and thus making a valuable contribution to climate protection.

  • Active protection of the acquired virgin forest stock

  • No deforestation for the cultivation of monocultures

  • Resettlement of the plundered Nativas

We recognized the need for action early on, developed suitable business models and built up the necessary infrastructure in Paraguay over the last 10 years. Now we are offering private and institutional investors alike the opportunity to contribute to the protection of the primeval forest while at the same time earning an attractive return. In this way, we are jointly providing for the needs of future generations: By investing in our projects, you are working with us to create an environment worth living in for our children and grandchildren.
In recent decades, millions of hectares of forest in Paraguay have been cleared, and fertile land has been partially transformed into barren wasteland. The habitat of countless animal and plant species was destroyed. Massive deforestation is also changing the climate. There are droughts or floods attributed to deforestation. How we protect the virgin forest

Our type of reforestation has two goals. On the one hand, we naturally want to generate a decent return for our investors. On the other hand – and this is the higher goal – we want to protect the Paraguayan virgin forest from further destruction, renaturalize it and allow it to spread again over time. And this is how we implement it:
  • 1

Monoculture as savior of the primeval forests in Paraguay

Our industrial reforestation prevents further deforestation of the rainforest. Previously unused soil can thus provide urgently needed wood through our reforestation efforts. Otherwise, the timber demand would be taken from the still existing virgin forest stand.

  • 2

Prepare the ground for the primeval forest again

It is only through our eucalyptus cultivation that the soil is again enriched with nutrients. Only this will enable the primeval forest to spread again in the long term. Our long-term goal is to give the virgin forest room to spread again over time.

  • 3

Active protection and maintenance of the acquired virgin forest remnant.

Still existing primeval forest stands, which we acquire with the areas, are not cleared but protected. Currently, in addition to our eucalyptus areas, we manage more than 200 hectares of virgin forest, which we actively protect.

  • 4

Reintroduction of the plundered tropical woods (Nativas).

The precious woods, which are so important for the ecosystem but have been largely plundered, are being added back to the virgin forest stand. Among others, the following precious wood species are reforested: Cedro, West Indian Cedrel, Lapacho, Yvyra Pyta, Paraguayan Rosewood, Guatambú and Peterevy.

Suitable reforestation areas are plenty

The good news is that suitable land for reforestation is available in sufficient quantities. The report “The Global Tree Forest Restoration Potential” published in the journal “Science” comes to an impressive conclusion: The forest area that is currently still available worldwide can be increased by one third – and that without reforestation measures coming into conflict with existing cities or agriculture. The demand for wood is directly related to the steadily increasing world population. That is why fast action is required.
If an area the size of the United States were reforested, the resulting forest could absorb nearly 100 years’ worth of CO2 emissions – this is the conclusion of a study presented in the summer of 2020 by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and cited by National Geographic magazine.

For your financial success

But there is more in it for you than just a clear conscience: With TreeCoin and your own TREE Cycle of Life, for example, you ensure that your investment in our extremely fast-growing eucalyptus also pays off financially, and permanently. Because high-quality hardwood was, is and will remain a raw material in demand worldwide. When you invest in one of our projects, you can simultaneously
  • Make a valuable contribution to the protection of existing native forests

  • Reforest fallow land and make it usable again

  • Benefit from attractive returns that are generated sustainably

By the way: Paying fair wages to those involved on site is just as much a matter of course for Global TREE Project AG as its commitment to charitable projects. Because we combine our commitment to environmental protection with our dedication to local people.
